Farma Capi hnizdo (Stork’s Nest Farm) advanced to the 2nd round of the competition Building Structure of the Year 2010
The building structure of the congress centre Farma Capi hnizdo (Stork's Nest Farm) in Olbramovice advanced to the second round of the prestigious competition Building of the Year 2010.
BAK managed to complete this outstanding building within 18 months. The original farm Dvur Semtin, dating from the second half of the 17th century, was transformed into a multi-functional premises. The annex of the new buildings has adapted sensitively to the character of the entire original historical estate, despite the fact that it encompasses modern components. In particular the architecturally creative riding hall, structurally conceived as a stork's nest, contemporarily reflects the dominant aspect of the farm - a former distillery chimney that has provided a home to a family of storks for several years. The premises includes a congress hall, a four-star hotel, a restaurant and sporting facilities.
In the 18th year of the competition 57 projects were entered. A jury has selected 30 building structures to progress to the second round. From these buildings the jury will choose 15 nominees from which it will choose the title The Building of the Year and also it will propose nominations for special awards and awards for commendation.
Internet voting for the public will take place from 10.9. to 30.9.2010 at www.stavbaroku.cz.
