The project involved the reconstruction of the Protěž water reservoir in Janské Lázně, carried out while the facility remained in operation. The reservoir serves to store drinking water sourced from the Černá hora area and distribute it by gravity to the town’s supply network. The function and character of the facility were preserved, although the structure was slightly expanded.
As part of the construction works, the entrance superstructure was enlarged, and its roof is now supported by a new steel frame. The ceilings of the storage chambers were demolished and replaced with new insulated slabs. Concrete structures were repaired, and modifications were made in both the tanks and the valve chamber, followed by complete thermal insulation of the facility. A key aspect of the project was the replacement of the entire technological system of the reservoir.
The reconstruction took place between June 2023 and June 2025, taking into account the mountain conditions and the proximity of the ski resort. The result is a facility comprising two storage tanks with a total capacity of 1,000 m³ and an adjoining valve chamber with an entrance superstructure.
